Charida village is home to the Chau Mask makers. The tradition of making Chau masks started in Charida about 150 years back during the rule of King Madan Mohan Singh Deo of Baghmundi. There are around 300 Chau mask makers of Sutradhar community in the village. The masks convey the vigorous intent of the art form that portrays animals or characters from the epics. A 3 days annual festival takes place at Charida in the third week of December.
