Medinipur is known for the beautiful tradition of Madur weaving - an integral part of Bengal’s lifestyle. Sarta village of Sabang is known for the intricate weaving of Madur mats. In 2018, Madur received the Geographical Indication (G.I.) tag.
Come and witness the fine hand woven Masland or Mataranchi and also buy diversified loom based products. Madur weavers will hold the 2nd edition of Madur Utsav between December 7-9, 2018. The festival is a part of the larger initiative of economic empowerment of the Madur weavers of Medinipur supported by West Bengal Khadi & Village Industries Board (WBKVIB). Be a part of the festival, meet the artists, participate in workshop and get to know about the Madur tradition of Bengal.
