POT Maya at Pingla, Paschim Medinipur, 2018


Naya village of Pingla is known all over the world for the vibrant strokes of colour and the art of story telling of the Patachitra painters. The village Naya has evolved as a popular cultural destination. Come November 16-18, 2018 the artists’ cluster Chitrataru representing 270 Patuas is organising the 9th edition of Patachitra festival POT Maya supported by West Bengal Khadi & Village Industries  Board (WBKVIB).

Learn about Patachitra, join the workshop and listen to Pater Gaan. You can also see the community museum run by the artists. In the evening you can also see folk performances. With the support of Dept of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and Textiles (MSME&T), Govt. of West Bengal, and UNESCO the artists have developed Rural Craft Hub in the village.

We welcome you to celebrate our cultural heritage.

How to reach: Pingla is 130 kms away from Kolkata. Reach Debra along NH6 and take left turn to Balichak. From Balichak move towards Mundomari crossing and then take left to reach Naya, Pingla. Nearest railway station is Balichak. Take bus/car to Naya, Pingla.

Mela schedule: Nov 16 - 18, 2018, 11 am - 8 pm, Inauguration - November 16 at 4 pm.
